Reviews

she was a real movie star, but a list of her movies shows you that those years at the end of the 1960s and maybe all of the 1970s movies were just junk. horror and aging tragedies and adulteries abound. but Elizabeth Taylor photographed well and for a good long time. a goddess at age 17 in a gold dress and pushing out her bosom with great attitude, and a raving beauty in a Place in the Sun. still she looked good in Butterfeild 8 to Cleopatra. than the Sandpiper and Boom and X,Y and Z and Ash Wednesday she just doesn't look good any more. the inside cover painting from the Taming of the Shrew is wonderful though. in the Sweet Bird of Youth i remember thinking the boy (Mark Harmon) looks better than she did. still the book does show several pictures from the same film and not show too many films after the Mirror Cracked in 1980. it is one of about 15 of these photographic books on hollywood stars that i have found, so it goes into my series. it is not an in depth overview of her career or life, just some high lights, in wonderful photos. by the way the book i got was for a penny and the cover was folded over making a crease in the cover. so you can't win them all with out paying more for it.
